About us

Organized in 1995 by Mary Granger, "I Have a Dream" of Southwest Washington has four local projects that are currently helping 333 students from low-income neighborhoods. Entire grade levels of students have been chosen from Washington, Hough, Harney, and Martin Luther King elementary schools. The program provides a school-based Project Coordinator to assist the Dreamers on a daily basis and promises tuition assistance for college or vocational training. The primary goal of "I Have a Dream" of Southwest Washington is to provide the motivation and support system necessary to encourage at-risk students to stay in school, define career goals, and fulfill the requirements for admission to college or vocational school. Funding for the program is provided by local sponsors.
